These skinks originate out of the tropical rainforests of New Guinea with high humidity and thick vegetation.
Genetics & Characteristics:
Red Eyed Crocs are oviparous animals, meaning they lay eggs.
Females lay one egg at a time.
Sexual maturity takes about 2 years. When startled, they tend to freeze and have been known to "play dead" (even when handled). Male crocodile skinks will battle other males.
Color & Appearance:
This unique species of skink has magma red eyes and a triangular-shaped head with rows of spiky armor-like scales giving it a dragon-like appearance.
Only males have white pads or pores on their hind feet. Therefore, making this animal sexually dimorphic.
With proper care these crocodile skink lizards can live 10 - 14 years in captivity.
